Sette 30 / ZCG1130Illustrated overview
A useful fit for

Home espresso or filter preparation where you accept supervising the receiving handle and checking the dose.

The main tradeoff

You hold the portafilter at the rest, and the timer repeats time rather than measuring the ground dose.

Your needs, this model

Does it fit your priorities?

Can I use a timed dose directly into an attended espresso handle?

Yes. The 2017 guide describes reorienting the arms for direct dosing, but expressly says this rest is not hands-free. Keep the handle supported and prevent grounds backing into the chute.

Can I manually stop a small bin dose by releasing the start button?

Yes. The documented pulse mode runs while the start control is held and stops on release, with the bin as a receiving option.

Does the 30 weigh a selected espresso output like a 270Wi?

No. This edition uses time or manual control, not an integrated target-weight system. A similar Sette name does not add the Wi scale.

A simpler Sette, with attended handle support

The Sette 30 is a conical-burr grinder for home espresso and documented brewed-coffee use. This assessment follows the October 2017 v2.7 operating edition, keeping its controls distinct from the micro-adjustment and preset arrangements of the 270 or the scale system of the 270Wi.

Its useful routine is selecting a grind position, choosing a time or supervising a pulse run, and collecting into the bin or an attended portafilter position. The handle rest is meaningful, but the manual explicitly says it is not hands-free support.

A rest is not a locking cradle

The receiving arms can be removed, turned and reinserted to change from bin to portafilter mode. In the latter position they help locate the handle under the outlet. Baratza warns that the user still must attend and support the portafilter.

That matters when comparing it with a holder that secures the basket with an additional hook. A timer does not make an unsupported handle safe to leave. Check that the grounds can fall freely, and do not let a mound rise back into the chute.

No exact universal portafilter diameter range is established in this book. A useful direct position is not proof that every basket shape or handle geometry fits.

Time and pulse offer different control

The timed sequence runs for the chosen duration and stops. A separate held-start pulse mode runs while the control is held and ends on release. These are actual documented choices, rather than treating a cancellation button as a new manual program.

The same device-arm section describes direct portafilter dosing, while bin collection remains the ordinary batch option. Time and pulse control do not add a scale. If your recipe needs a particular output weight, check it separately and recheck when the coffee or grind setting changes.

The reviewed edition's time display description should stay with that edition. This assessment does not combine a later product reference's resolution or another Sette's three memories into one improved-looking control system.

Grind settings do not promise every espresso result

The manual gives a single broad adjustment ring and starting regions for espresso and manual brewing, with drip guidance in its quantity discussion. It does not provide the 270's separate stepless micro lever.

A maker espresso starting point is a useful place to begin, but it is not proof of performance with every conventional unpressurized basket. If very small changes are essential to your espresso routine, compare the actual adjustment mechanism and exact basket evidence before choosing on model name alone.

For brewed coffee, record the useful position and run duration together. A changed grind position can change both the brew and the output delivered during a familiar time.

Plan short runs and rests

The operating edition emphasizes short-duration home use and gives a rest between successive espresso or brew batches. Treat those as real constraints when making several drinks. A fast individual run should not be represented as permission for continuous cafe use.

The hopper supports repeated-dose bean loading. It does not establish a specified single-dose range or normal stopping based on the load becoming empty. Those capabilities remain separate from the timer and manual controls.

Cleaning reaches the lower cone assembly

The guide releases the cone-burr and adjustment assembly downward, using alignment markers for reinstallation. That is different from a generic upper-burr lift-out. Follow the exact model procedure and disconnect power for the cleaning work.

Brush the burr and adjustment parts dry. The hopper and receiving bin are hand-washed and fully dried, not put in a dishwasher. If grounds have backed up into the outlet, the book gives a separate unclogging procedure rather than simply running more beans through.

Choose this earlier Sette 30 operating configuration for supervised home grinding with timed or pulse bin collection and a documented attended handle position. Choose another verified design for hands-free handle security, integrated target weighing or an established single-dose automatic workflow.
