Your needs, this model
Does it fit your priorities?
Does this 10903 edition support timed bin grinding for French press?
Yes. The English instructions name French press and describe a time/quantity selector with automatic completion. Follow the short-cycle and five-minute rest requirements.
Explore this need in the finder →Will it select a target weight of coffee from the reservoir?
No integrated target-weight system is documented. The quantity control operates by selected time, so check the dose for your recipe.
Explore this need in the finder →Does the 10903 model name alone establish ordinary US electrical compatibility?
No. The book lists separate US120V60 Hz and EU220–240 V versions. Only the specifically reviewed120 V configuration supports that requirement.
Explore this need in the finder →A timed Bistro, with its own operating edition
The Bistro 10903 is a conical-burr grinder whose reviewed2018 instruction book gives a timed collection workflow. It is a useful choice to investigate for a home brewer wanting the grinder to stop after a selected interval, with grounds collected into a lidded container.
Keep that model number visible when comparing it with other Bodum Bistros. The 11750 instructions describe a different control sequence. A shared family name does not mean the receiving pieces, timer or normal stopping behavior are identical.
Time and grind size are separate choices
The manual identifies a time/quantity control and says the grinder switches off after the selected time. An on/off control can interrupt the cycle. Time governs the quantity indirectly; grind size remains a separate adjustment.
For a regular filter batch, first choose an appropriate grind region and check the output at a chosen time. Record that pairing for the coffee you use. A new coffee or a different setting can change the amount delivered within the same interval.
There is no integrated target-weight control in the reviewed sequence. If you brew from a grams-based recipe, use a separate suitable scale to establish or check the quantity. A repeatable time is useful, but it does not measure coffee mass.
What the brew markings mean
Bodum names espresso, filter coffee and French press as the fine, middle and coarse reference categories. Intermediate positions are available to refine the choice. These are maker operating recommendations rather than an independent guarantee of extraction or flavor.
If you mainly move between filter and French press, keep a short note for each recipe so that you can return to the right region before setting the amount. If you need a particular conventional unpressurized espresso basket to work, the generic espresso marking is not sufficient proof of that stricter requirement.
With beans in the grinder, the manual tells users to move the grind control only while the motor is running. That instruction differs from some disk-burr designs that prohibit adjustment during operation. Follow the 10903 book rather than a general tip copied from another mechanism.
A 220 g reservoir does not make it a single-dose automatic
The documented bean capacity is 220 g. The book discusses keeping the bean-container lid shut and grinding only the amount needed. It does not establish a standard one-load grams range or automatic stopping specifically because all loaded beans have finished.
Those distinctions matter if changing coffee after every brew is your priority. A reservoir that can physically be emptied is not by itself a dedicated single-dose specification. Normal completion in this edition follows the selected time.
The timed operation also has a short-cycle limit: the reviewed book warns against consecutive operation beyond its 20-second unit and requires a five-minute cooling interval. Plan repeated batches around that rest, rather than interpreting the reservoir capacity as an approved continuous batch size.
Use the receiving container as instructed
The manual says to keep the lid fitted to the ground-coffee container during grinding. This assessment follows that collection arrangement and does not establish direct portafilter support. For espresso, allow for transferring the grounds afterward.
Check that the receiver is ready before starting a cycle. A timer does not know whether your next brewing device is nearby, and removing a full container during operation is not a substitute for a properly planned dose.
Cleaning and the US-rated version
After unplugging and emptying, the bean container is removed at its release position and the upper grinding ring lifts out. Brush the grinding parts and follow the reassembly sequence. The book allows the receiving container and lid in a dishwasher, while other listed surfaces are wiped rather than immersed.
The technical table separates a 120V60 Hz US version from a 220–240 V version. This assessment's US compatibility applies to the documented 120 V configuration; it is not a claim that every 10903 accepts both supplies. Check the actual label before use.
Choose this earlier documented 10903 configuration for short, timed home batches spanning the maker's brew categories. Choose another explicitly supported design for direct handle collection, integrated weighing or an automatic end-of-load routine.
