Coffee Burr #559.04Illustrated overview
A useful fit for

Household filter or press batches with a quantity setting established for your recipe.

The main tradeoff

Grind into the supplied container and use a separate scale for a measured ground-coffee dose.

Your needs, this model

Does it fit your priorities?

Can the 559.04 prepare filter or French-press grounds into a removable container?

Yes. The maker supplies starting grind regions and an amount selector for that receiving-container routine. Calibrate the cup amount to your coffee and brewer.

Can I use a portafilter instead of its lidded receiver?

No. The manual requires the grounds container and its lid to be installed for operation.

Does it weigh a chosen number of grams automatically?

No integrated target-weight control is documented. Cup markings are approximate quantity guidance and depend on the coffee and fineness.

An older disk-burr option for cup-selected batches

The Capresso 559.04 is documented as a disk-burr coffee grinder, rather than an Infinity conical-burr model. Its instructions combine a fineness selector, a cup-amount slider and a removable lidded grounds container. It is best understood as a home batch-collection design.

If you are identifying an existing unit, the 559 label matters more than the broad phrase coffee burr grinder. Several Capresso designs have different controls, stopping behavior and maintenance instructions despite sharing that description.

Establish the amount for your own brewer

The manual allows up to eight ounces of beans in the hopper, approximately 226.8 g by weight conversion. It then uses the amount selector to choose an approximate number of cups. Capresso explicitly warns that the result varies with grind size and the coffee being used.

Begin with your brewer's recipe and check the grounds produced. The cup markings help reproduce a familiar task once calibrated, but do not measure your water, mug or desired strength. Changing from a finer to a coarser setting is a reason to check the amount again.

The book describes automatic completion without explaining a user-programmable seconds target. This assessment therefore retains the cup-selector feature without claiming a separately proven programmable timer. There is no integrated grams-target scale in the documented control sequence.

Empty-bean stopping is not a defined single-dose specification

A separate note says the grinder stops when no beans remain. That fact is worth keeping, but the everyday instructions also allow storing beans above the burrs for subsequent doses. The book does not establish a dedicated single-dose minimum or maximum.

For a user who switches coffee each brew, that distinction prevents a misleading recommendation. An empty-hopper stop by itself is not proof of a calibrated one-dose loading method with a specified grams range. If that workflow is essential, require an exact supporting instruction.

Early stopping uses the amount selector's OFF position. The manual does not present that cancellation as a separate untimed or held-button grinding program.

Filter, French press and the stated espresso categories

Capresso provides a table for drip filters, French press and several espresso-machine types. The table is a starting guide, with different recommended regions depending on coffee and equipment. It does not establish that a particular numbered setting is correct for every roast or brewer.

A useful household setup is to record a grind position and amount-selector setting together for each regular brew. Work on one change at a time, rather than moving both controls and losing track of what changed.

Generic pump-espresso guidance is also narrower evidence than approval for a specified conventional unpressurized basket. That stricter compatibility remains unknown. Espresso use in this book still involves collecting into the supplied container and transferring the grounds afterward.

Receiver interlocks shape the workflow

The grounds container and its lid must be correctly installed for operation. There is no supported substitution of a portafilter under the outlet. Keep the receiver below its full level so grounds cannot back up into the chute.

Capresso tells users not to change fineness while grinding. Follow that instruction for this disk-burr design rather than applying another brand's advice to adjust under power. The first-use procedure also has its own coarse-setting sequence.

Care before another batch

The upper disk can be lifted out after the documented selector and unlocking steps. Brush the burrs without water and leave the burr fixed in its carrier. The specified plastic receiving pieces and lids can be hand-washed and dried, while the body remains out of water and all parts stay out of a dishwasher.

The operating tips require short runs and a five-minute rest before grinding again. This favors a considered home-batch routine rather than repeated continuous production. No exact supply rating is established in this manual, so check the actual unit's label.

Choose the 559.04 reference for cup-selected bin collection when the particular unit and instructions are confirmed. Seek another documented design for direct handle dosing, verified single-load capacity or a selected weight target.
