Your needs, this model
Does it fit your priorities?
Can a portafilter receive a dose from the Dosato lever?
Yes. The manual describes a supported fork with a reducer and a mechanical lever. Exact compatible nominal handle diameters are not specified.
Explore this need in the finder →Does a preset mechanical dose satisfy automatic weight stopping?
No. The motor is switched manually and the lever portions grounds already in the chamber. No integrated scale is established.
Explore this need in the finder →Can it fit a body-height limit of 310 mm?
The original Dosato table gives305 mm assembled height. Additional room is still needed to fill and clean it.
Explore this need in the finder →Jolly Dosato is the original Jolly configuration for someone who wants a mechanical dosing lever at a home espresso station. It grinds coffee into a chamber before a lever dispenses a portion into the portafilter. That two-stage process is the reason to consider it, and also the main compromise to understand.
What Dosato changes
The maker's original dual-model handbook separates regular Jolly spoon transfer from the Dosato fork and lever. With Dosato, the filter holder sits in a supported position; a reducer is described for adapting the support.
This is useful if you like the motion of filling a chamber and pulling a portion at the espresso machine. It is not the same as requesting a fresh motor-driven grinding cycle directly into the basket for every drink. Consider how much coffee you want to keep in the chamber and how you will manage leftovers.
A preset portion is not a live weight target
The original instructions describe the dose delivered by the lever. They also describe the motor switch: start grinding, then switch off after producing the desired amount. The mechanical portion and motor control are separate tasks.
There is no established integrated scale controlling the stop. If you need a precise recipe by mass, check the delivered dose separately. The word preset should not become a promise that every coffee or lever stroke produces an independently verified gram result.
Keep this physical version identifiable
The selected original Dosato reference has a 250 g bean hopper and 50 mm grinding components. Its table gives305 mm height,135 mm width and 250 mm depth, different from the regular Jolly. Leave space for loading, the lever action and removing the chamber for care.
This is the original dual-model handbook configuration, not a silent merger with every later JDR or Jolly Dosato reference. Check the actual unit, model plate and supplied handbook. The original instructions leave the supply requirement to that plate; a family name does not identify a US electrical version.
Care goes beyond wiping the outside
A doser introduces a ground-coffee chamber and a portion mechanism to manage. The handbook describes emptying and releasing the chamber for its specified cleaning procedure. Disconnect first and follow those part-specific directions rather than assuming that every burr, housing or attachment can be washed.
The safety protection over the grinding area is not an accessory to remove for convenience. For service beyond the user procedure, use appropriate support. Reachable instructions identify a design; they do not establish the condition of a particular older grinder.
Choose this original Dosato when you specifically want a manual-motor, lever-doser home routine. If you prefer a single-dose load, direct on-demand grinding or automatic weighing, compare a design documented for that different sequence.
